Royal Ranger Twilight Camp

On Saturday night, my huband took C to a Royal Ranger Twilight Camp. It was from 4:30 until shortly after dark. This was for the youngest group of Royal Rangers -- The "Ranger Kids."

They had games set up for them to play, such as:

Horse shoes

Tug Of War-- C loved this!

Disc Golf

This one they tossed the thing in his hand and tried to get it to go around the bars.

They also had a camp fire and roasted hotdogs and marshmallows.

The temperatures took an unexpected dip (at least unexpected to us, since we didn't watch the weather), and so they froze in their shorts and t-shirts. C decided he wanted some cuddle time to warm up! And, of course, my husband loved this! They had to show me what cuddle time was when they got home!

Several skits were performed by the different groups from around the area, flag ceremonies were performed, and songs were sung! I have been serenaded tonight with a Pizza Hut song they learned. It is so cute and has motions to go along with it!

Here, C is looking at some termites that they found on a tree stump. He thought these were so cool to look at!

How Precious!

My children are so precious! Today C's pre-K class put on a Mother's Day Tea in celebration of Mother's Day. It was decorated so beautifully. They sang two songs to us at the beginning, finishing the second one, "You Are My Sunshine," by bringing a flower to us and finished singing the song standing beside us. There were tears in many eyes as their child sang their song to them. It was so, so precious. Grandma snapped this pic of C singing to me.

Then we enjoyed many refreshments. There was fruits, donuts, cakes, and many others. And of course, tea! Then, Ms. J read a story to us, and they finished by singing a song to us. Grandma J was able to join us in celebration, too!

Here is a pic of what E made for me in her MDO class and one of her and I together. It was so precious and special when E got her gift from her school bag, brought it to me, and wrapped her arms around my neck! She was so happy to give me a gift just from her! I love getting these special gifts that I will cherish and save!

Gym Time and Registration

Today was a fun day! E, K, and myself went to ASI Gymnastics for open gym time. This is the first time we have went to this. The kiddos get to play for two hours for a minimal cost. They have tumbling areas, trampolines, soft block pits, rope swings, and a few other things. E had a blast. She really enjoyed jumping in the foam block pits and jumping on the trampoline. There were other friends of hers there to play with, as well. She really liked it and I think we will have to plan on it again sometime soon!

C had his Kindergarten pre-registration this evening. While I filled out all of the paperwork, C went on a tour of the school. His daddy went with him, b/c he was very hesitant to go by himself. They saw the gym, library, classrooms, and computer room. When asked what his favorite part of the tour was, he said, "Having my very own computer." He loves to work on the computers and will really enjoy this part of Kindergarten. They also had two stories read to them in the library. After I finished with the paperwork, they had to take me on another tour, b/c I wanted to see everything, too! I think he will do fine when August comes around.

Have a blessed day.

T-ball and walking

We got a t-ball set for C and E to play with. C will be taking a t-ball practice class (4 sessions) this summer that teaches him how to play t-ball and to let him see if he likes it and is interested in it. So, I thought this would help him feel a little more comfortable when it comes time for the class.

Of course, E got to have her turn practicing, too.

K is starting to take a lot more steps. She is taking more and more steps everytime you turn around. She would walk between a toy she pulls up to and me (four steps). She did this several times this afternoon. She's about to really start chasing after C and E.

Here is a pic of C up in the tree. He loves for his daddy to put him up there! We lost a couple of its branches due to the storms, but at least the one they like to sit on is still intact.

Have a blessed day!

Way to Read, C!

We have been working with C on his reading. The blending of the sounds just wasn't clicking in his head, so we have been working with him a little each night and just going over it with him.

We having been working on reading the words that Ms. R sent him home with and he has been getting a little better each night. Tonight, when I sat down with him, I got out his BOB books.

He received these for Christmas in anticipation of learning to read. These are very easy books (12 books in set 1 -- 5 sets total) that introduce a few new sounds in each book. Perfect for beginning readers.

C looked at the first book and just started sounding out the words. He completed reading the first book with very, very minimal help from me.

My husband and I were so excited and you could just tell that C was so, so proud of himself. I couldn't quite believe it, myself, but it looks like the repetitive practice is working for him!

He then wanted to go on to the second book and read that one, as well, with just a little help on a few words and the sight words from me!

How neat and awesome it is to see your child grow and learn! I am so proud of him! Way to go, C!

Have a blessed day!

Our Sunday-- Busy, as always!

Our Sunday's are always fun and eventful. We try to be on time and end up rushing around! Sometimes we just have to calm down and remember what Sundays are all about -- the day we set aside time specifically to worship God! Sometimes we forget that, but we so need to remember it's about more than just going to church and the activities surrounding it! We need that worship time to strengthen and grow our relationship with God! I so hope we are getting this message across to our kiddos.

My parents were with us this weekend and they left today to go back to Arkansas. I snapped this picture with them before they left. The kids are always heartbroken that Grandma and Grandpa can't stay just a little bit longer! We had such a fun weekend with them (despite the storms and fallen tree) and can't wait to see them again next month for K's b-day.

My husband has started playing his trombone again for church as a part of the worship team. This has resulted in us being there just a little earlier for practice. C loves watching his daddy play the trombone during practice time before Sunday School. He gets his donut, and goes and just sits there watching him play. It is so cute to watch and see.

After church, we went to Grandma and Grandpa J's house. Grandma J's brother and his wife were here this weekend to spend some time with us. We visited over lunch. C had to know all about New Mexico where they live. He heard all about the cactus, mountains, snow, etc. and loved playing in the floor with his Great Uncle A, too. It was great getting to catch up with them a little more.

After my husband came home this afternoon, he worked some on clearing the tree stump out front. Some neighbor's and a few others had cleared our yard, cut apart the rest of the tree, and piled most of the limbs beside the street for pick-up. Now all that remains is some of the stump. He is working on getting it to ground level. C had a blast climbing on the pile of tree limbs. I snapped this pic of him!

Here is also a few pics of the huge piles of limbs waiting for pick-up.

And a few more pics from Canton. My dad spent a lot of time toting K around while we looked at everything. Here is a pic of him, E, and K and one of K eating the crust from a piece of pizza.

Have a blessed day!

Shopping and Storms

Well, today started off rather calm, but ended with rain, storms, and strong winds. My parents are down this weekend from Arkansas and we went to Canton this weekend. I started my Christmas shopping! (I know it's early, but I have gotten a jump start this year!)

We had fun going up and down through the buildings with lots and lots of crafts and creations in them. We made it through four building and had lunch. I even got to enjoy a turkey leg! Yum, yum!

We left Canton around 2:30 and almost got home before the rain hit. Then we got take-out from Razzoo's and while we were enjoying it around our kitchen table, while a storm was raging outside -- hail, rain, winds -- our tree in our front yard blew over! It is a huge bradford pear tree and is standing no more! We couldn't even get out our front door and had to go out through the garage to go and see the damage done. Thankfully it missed the two cars parked out front and only clipped the edge of the gutter -- not damaging our roof! Here is a pic I snapped of the downed tree before my dad and my husband started clearing up the mess.

Our house will sure look different from the front without that tree there!

I hope everyone else faired well in the storms and suffered little or no damage!

Here are a few other pics I took over the last several days-- if you didn't notice, it's been several days since I blogged. On Thursday afternoon, I stopped by a garage sale and picked up lots of clothes, shoes, and a few toys for K. They had most of the clothes between .25 to .50 cents each. And they were nice clothes! That is my kind of a garage sale!

I bought a ride-on toy for (in the pic below) for K and she loves it! It is the perfect height for her to climb on and off of. She gets on and off, on and off and it plays music too that she likes to push over and over.

Here is some other pics of C and E up high on daddy's shoulders.

Have a blessed day!
